Sample of Short Narrative Essay
Sample of Short Narrative EssayIn this article, I will discuss a sample of short narrative essay that you can use in your writing. Fiction writing is often difficult, as the need to present information in a short amount of space becomes a major concern. This is where a sample of short narrative writing comes in. You might have already noticed a 'sample' of an essay, however, it might be hard to locate it.As soon as you see the word 'sample', chances are that you will be tempted to think of one of your favourite 'scary stories'. However, when looking for a sample of short narrative writing, remember that you can choose anything you like as long as it is short and interesting. But do bear in mind that you can only include one story, so make sure you don't end up with more than one story.Short fictional stories are the best way to break new ground. They are also great for brainstorming or polishing a personal, professional or social identity. If you have never written a short story befo re, then this may be your first chance to do so. If you have not heard about it, or do not know much about how to write a short story, then here is some advice. Even if you have written fiction before, you should still do some research into short stories. The most basic principle of writing a short story is that the characters should be the focal point. What this means is that the characters should be the major focus of the story. Most people find this difficult to do, as they tend to base their decisions on the characters. They think of the characters as what will drive the plot and therefore will affect the outcome of the story. However, when writing a short story, it doesn't matter what the characters are or how much you will tell them. It's the point to focus on the characters and how they relate to each other that is important. As a writer, you have to think about what effect the actions of one character will have on another character. All the best short stories include this basi c rule. So, for example, in a story about a young boy who is traveling with his mother and father, the father, who is the main character, has to stop at a railway station and meet a customer. From this point onwards, the story, or the character is the focus. The story begins with the arrival of the train and continues with the customers, their conversation and the children discover their feelings. This helps establish the relationship between the characters and allows the reader to become emotionally involved with the story. The other important aspect is the fact that the character has different perspectives and experiences from that of the reader. You will find this very helpful as you begin to develop a new character, because the reader will be able to relate to the character, although he or she has had no prior experience with the character. These are the basics of how to write a short story. They will help you create a new and exciting world for yourself. The best part is that thes e can be used over again. Of course, you must change the scenario at times, but the basic structure remains the same.

abstract expressiom Essay
abstract expressiom Essay abstract expressiom Essay A new vanguard emerged in the early 1940s, primarily in New York, where a small group of loosely affiliated artists created a stylistically diverse body of work that introduced radical new directions in art- and shifted the art world's focus. Never a formal association, the artists known as "Abstract Expressionists" or "The New York School" did, however, share some common assumptions. Among others, artists such as Jackson Pollock (1912ââ¬â1956), Willem de Kooning (1904ââ¬â1997), Franz Kline (1910ââ¬â1962), Lee Krasner (1908ââ¬â1984), Robert Motherwell (1915ââ¬â1991), William Baziotes (1912ââ¬â1963), Mark Rothko (1903ââ¬â1970), Barnett Newman (1905ââ¬â1970), Adolph Gottlieb (1903ââ¬â1974), Richard Pousette-Dart (1916ââ¬â1992), and Clyfford Still (1904ââ¬â1980) advanced audacious formal inventions in a search for significant content. Breaking away from accepted conventions in both technique and subject matter, the artists made monumentally sc aled works that stood as reflections of their individual psyches- and in doing so, attempted to tap into universal inner sources. These artists valued spontaneity and improvisation, and they accorded the highest importance to process. Their work resists stylistic categorization, but it can be clustered around two basic inclinations: an emphasis on dynamic, energetic gesture, in contrast to a reflective, cerebral focus on more open fields of color. In either case, the imagery was primarily abstract. Even when depicting images based on visual realities, the Abstract Expressionists favored a highly abstracted mode. Abstract Expressionism developed in the context of diverse, overlapping sources and inspirations. Many of the young artists had made their start in the 1930s. The Great Depression yielded two popular art movements, Regionalism and Social Realism, neither of which satisfied this group of artists' desire to find a content rich with meaning and redolent of social responsibility, yet free of provincialism and explicit politics. The Great Depression also spurred the development of government relief programs, including the Works Progress Administration (WPA), a jobs program for unemployed Americans in which many of the group participated, and which allowed so many artists to establish a career path. But it was the exposure to and assimilation of European modernism that set the stage for the most advanced American art. There were several venues in New York for seeing avant-garde art from Europe. The Museum of Modern Art had opened in 1929, and there artists saw a rapidly growing collection acquired by director Alfred H. Barr, Jr. They were also exposed to groundbreaking temporary exhibitions of new work, including Cubism and Abstract Art (1936), Fantastic Art, Dada, Surrealism (1936ââ¬â37), and retrospectives of , Là ©ger, and , among others. Another forum for viewing the most advanced art was Albert Gallatin's Museum of Living Art, which was housed at New York University from 1927 to 1943. There the Abstract Expressionists saw the work of Mondrian, Gabo, El Lissitzky, and others. The forerunner of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum- the Museum of Non-Objective Painting- opened in 1939. Even prior to that date, its collection of Kandinskys had been publicly exhibited several t imes. The lessons of European modernism were also disseminated through teaching. The German expatriate Hans Hofmann (1880ââ¬â1966) became the most influential teacher of modern art in the United States, and his impact reached both artists and critics. The crisis of war and its aftermath are key to understanding the concerns of the Abstract Expressionists. These young artists, troubled by man's dark side and anxiously aware of human irrationality and vulnerability, wanted to express their concerns in a new art of meaning and substance. Direct contact with European artists increased as a result of World War II, which caused so many- including Dalà , Ernst, Masson, Breton, Mondrian, and Là ©ger- to seek refuge in the U.S. The opened up new possibilities with their

buy custom Wal-Martââ¬â¢s Key International Human Resource Practices essay
buy custom Wal-Martââ¬â¢s Key International Human Resource Practices essay Wal-Mart is one of the leading organizations in todays corporate world. Its progressive achievements are greatly attributed to the culture and organizational behavior assumed in the organization. One of the most valued departments is the human resource department. Staffing and recruitment in Wal-Mart is a bit diverse. This is because, Sam Walton, the owner of Wal-Mart, believes that his employees are the most valued asset of his organization. Hence, treating them well makes them feel valued, hence, motivating them to work hard and treating the customers well. This is strategic concept since every organization must enhance employee motivation in order to ensure high productivity levels. Sam values his staff so much that he changed his human resource department name to people department. Before Wal-Mart stores expanded to the large organization it now is, Sam used to visit the stores once a year and he would talk to his customers and staff. His employees, on the other hand, would walk to him and they would talk like they were old friends. This kind of attention and his down to earth attitude motivated the employees, and, in turn, they portrayed it to customers. This resulted to a good public image. He treats his employees as family, which has led to increased number of employees, though there have been several law suits against Wal-Mart due to gender discrimination against women (Soderquist, 2005). Recruitment in Wal-Mart stores is done, when new vacancies arise. For instance, in case of a death of an employee, retirement, transfers, promotion, in case there is a new store being opened, or when there is a need of new technology or talent (new breed) in the organization. In this process, senior managers are involved in identifying and hiring great talent as required by the organization. Employees normally sign a cntract to agree to be ready to go for transfer in case of a promotion, which is not easy for female employees. This means the terms of employment are usually clear beforehand to employees. When a need for new employee arises advertisements are made to outside job seekers only if the needed employee cannot be found within the organization. Otherwise, if a vacancy arises, the first priority is given to the qualified employees within the organization. International organizational training and development programs are provided and supported by managers and supervisors. They are involved in identifying and training the needy employees of the organization, hence, improved service provision and personal development of employees, which leads to motivation. Training is organized by managers in their different division or branches, then they consult with the main office or branch and decisions are made on whether to hold on job training or off-the job training or to hold seminars, according to the amount of resource available and the needs of employees. The employees are also trained on the culture, leadership development and diversity is practiced within the boundaries, which lead to right ethical and sensitive behaviors towards the employee and customer, hence, good public relation and growth of the organization (Paauwe, 2004). Wal-Mart leaders from all around the world are trained in Walton institution to learn about the uniqueness of the company culture. The institution provides management skills and helps in developing talents of it customers. The organization is located in different countries like Brazil, Canada, China, and Japan, United Kingdom etc., hence, giving most of Wal-Mart employees a chance to join and attend classes. Training takes place during orientation of new employees to help them cope and familiarize themselves with the organization quickly and easily, hence, quality of work proovided. This kind of training makes employees feel valued. Expatriate training program helps managers and supervisors know how to treat companies employees as the most valued assets of the organization. The program helps them know the need of being divers and people oriented as well as result oriented. Wal-Mart assists in career development of it employees, e.g. through training programs, orientation, team work and career assessment. The only problem that this company is facing is labor turn over due to poor salary and wages and lack of paying attention to employees career needs; they only attend to those needs, when unions intervenes. Though they have been very keen in ensuring that service delivery is effective, they are still struggling with law suits from the employees union. Training programs assist employees to better perform their duties and responsibilities, hence, improving services, provided to the customers of the company. This theory was said and practiced by Sam Walton. He believed that when employees feel valued in a company, it is translated in their performance, which will be reflected back to the company performance (Coburn, 2011). From the above analysis, it is clearly evident that the management of Wal-Mart stores is on point in regards to meeting employees needs. This has translated into high productivity levels. Also, it is clear that leadership is an important part of an organizations success. Waltons leadership style of being extremely close to his juniors has enhanced both horizontal and vertically communication. This, in turn, has helped in the level of motivation of employees and productivity of the organization. This leadership style is one that should be emulated by firms all over the world in order to attain great results. It is evident that valuing the human resource department is an extremely crucial strategy in order to be successful. Buy custom Wal-Martââ¬â¢s Key International Human Resource Practices essay

Wal-Mart Article Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Wal-Mart Article - Essay Example Much of Walmart success in Mexico can be attributed to NAFTA. NAFTA solved the logistics problems that Walmart faced by improving infrastructure. This enabled Walmart to transport the goods and open up more stores across Mexico with much ease than before. The reduced import tariffs also encouraged importation of goods from other countries and this enabled Walmart to reduce the prices of their goods thereby attracting more customers. Walmart success in the region is also a result of Walmartââ¬â¢s high bargaining power, which enables it to obtain goods at a fair deal thus offering its customers much lower prices than other retail stores. Walmart has been a threat to other retail stores in the region. As Walmart continues to reduce the prices of goods, other retail stores such as Comerci reduced the prices too to combat the completion. Comerci and other retail stores have also filed complain to Mexicoââ¬â¢s federal competition commission to curb the unfair pricing. This kind of strategy can only be helpful to Comerci if price control bill is passed. With the stiff competition from Walmart, other retailers need to come up with other new strategies to enable them remain in the market. The need for other retailers to improve on their bargaining skills is also of great importance, as it will enable the retailers reduce prices as Walmart. Opening production plants for some good may also help combat the competition Walmart brought in Mexico since this will enable the retailers obtain goods at rather reduced

Compare the role of women in Caroyl Churchill's top girls and Essay
Compare the role of women in Caroyl Churchill's top girls and Shakespeares taming of the shrew - Essay Example It revolves around the theme of mistaken identity of two sisters Katharine and Bianca. Katharine is apparently rude, ill tampered and defiant while Bianca is meek and nice with moderate manners. Both girls fight for gaining their fatherââ¬â¢s attention. Katherineââ¬â¢s jealousy and selfishness is due to Biancaââ¬â¢s approval by everyone as she says, ââ¬Å"She is your treasure, she must have a husband; I must dance bare-foot on her wedding dayâ⬠(The Taming of the Shrew. 2.1.35-36).1 Katherine is independent and has free will, but at the same time she is bitchy and her father want her to get married at any cost. On the other hand, Bianca pretends to be obedient and portrays the image of innocent girl who submit to her elderââ¬â¢s will. Shakespeareââ¬â¢s woman is wild, rebellious, ruler or suppressed by the male dominated society. He reassigned the role to women who independently operate in a social structure which is not favorable for her. However, right role for woman in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s point of view is submission to manââ¬â¢s will; be it her father or husband. Initially Bianca is showed as right and good because of her humble behavior towards orders, irrespective of what is going on inside her. Katherine on the other hand is rejected due to her insolent doings besides her independent and free spirit. At the end of play, role of both sisters shift just because of submission to their husbandââ¬â¢s will, irrespective of what is going on inside their heads. The word taming reminds me of animals who need to be trained in order to be ready to serve better. Katherine is resembled with many animals and objects, for example, title itself suggests her to be a shrew, a mouse like animal. She is also compared with asses, horses and hawks. This idea can be observed in Act III, Scene II clearly when Petruchio says: Male domination over woman is obvious in the

Requirements for Research Essay Abstract This study entitled ââ¬Å"Orange (Citrus Sinensis) Peelings Extract as an Alternative shoe Polishâ⬠aims to aims to determine if orange peeling oil extract be a good alternative for shoe polish specifically to answer the following questions (1) What specific properties of the shoe polish produced are present/ identified? (2) What are the physical properties of the orange peeling extract shoe polish as to texture, color, and odor? (3) Is there significant difference/s between the orange peeling extract and coconut oil shoe polish with that of the other commercially sold shoe polish in terms of: polish-ness, odor, and texture? The researcher then conducted a series of experiments to test the project. These processes are the extraction of oil from the orange peelings that would be then mixed with the coconut oil produced (cooked) from the coconut plant and the testing and comparing of the alternative shoe polish made with that of the commercially sold shoe polish. The test was conducted with the use of leather shoes as the test object. The results showed that the alternative shoe polish produced has almost the same qualities as to that of the commercially sold shoe polish in terms of its physical properties. The produced shoe polish made the shoes shine a little bit and produced a nice odor considering the natural scent of the orange oil which is added to the mixture. The researcher recommendsà trying testing different ratios of each and seeing in what trial it produced the best shoe polish. Further reading about the project is also recommended to widen the scope of study and to produce an alternative shoe polish that would be of help in aiming for the alternative shoe polish with the nearest qualities with that of commercial shoe polish. Acknowledgement The researcher wish to extend her sincerest appreciation to the following people who helped make this research. The Basis of Medical Practice Essay -- Health, The Birthmark, Hawthorn
Overall, medical practice is performed when physicians identify health concerns, including diseases, mental disorders, and physical injuries, and provide a treatment for their patients in order to properly cure them of their maladies. The appropriate basis for medical practice is a combination of physiciansââ¬â¢ knowledge acquired from scientific research and education, and ethical considerations regarding the wellbeing of patients. Additionally, if no scientific support is available, patients must rely on intuition and experience in order to make a proper diagnosis. On the whole, science plays a major role in the realm of medicine, as it is the foundation for the creation of new treatments and education. Science is defined as ââ¬Å"â⬠¦research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements, achievements that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the foundation for its further practiceâ⬠(Kuhn 70). The aspect of scientific research is important because as more diseases and medical conditions become recognized, scientists need to discover possible cures and develop medicine in order for physicians to treat their patients. For example, in A Brief Tour of Human Consciousness, neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran recounts how patients with ââ¬Å"reflex sympathetic dystrophyâ⬠, also known as RSD, were research subjects in a scientific experiment to discover if there was a way to cure their unremitting pain (17). As a result of this experiment, a new and effective treatment for those in chroni c pain was determined once it was discovered that the patientsââ¬â¢ pain went away completely and mobility returned to limbs when mirrors were utilized (18). Through science, the answer to how physicians may prescribe a trea... ...per medical treatment. V.S. Ramachandran states that ââ¬Å"randomized, controlled trial research do not make clinical decisions for physicians; rather, they must be applied to individual patients and clinical situations based on value judgments, both by physicians and patients. Clinical decision-making must entail value judgments about the costs and benefits of available treatmentsâ⬠(91). A patient can practice medicine by deciding whether a certain treatment option is right for him or her. For example, an individual might choose to take medication instead of having surgery because of monetary costs, or decide which prescription drug to take based on the potential side effects. Overall, though a physician may advise an individual on a certain treatment to cure him or her of a medical concern, it is ultimately the patientsââ¬â¢ decision on whether or not to carry it out.
